Catch up mid June

More Music, Magic and Tenerife Sunshine

Well have had a great week, am finalising work for September which is great! The bus pass has run out! Last Friday went to a fabulous concert by Marc Anthony, at the Olympic Football Stadium which is home to C.D Marino, Playa Las Americas which was electric, great singer, real energy, last time he was here he was still married to Jenifer Lopez and she appeared with him. Fantastic atmosphere, the whole community old and young singing and dancing, real latino salsa, they make it look so easy. I’d got teenagers dancing beside me and pensioners singing in front of me. Tenerife magic!

I went to La Gomera, which is truly breath taking, Beautiful views, very natural and calm, well that was until the bus driver hit the fence and we all had to get off the bus on one hell of bend. San Sebastian is the capital and really quaint. Fantastic Day, so come and book with M2 Travel at Veronica´s, if you are planning to come to Tenerife! Truly amazing! Thanks Mundy.

Last night went out to a traditional cabaret evening, lovely intimate venue, great food and customer care. The show was called Illusions and here from Las Vegas. Again a great evening, we had a Rat Pack style singer as we had our food, great company, and then the show talk about a spectacular! Elevation, a brilliant female singer, playing with fire, mind reading, escapology, ballet and of course more salsa. The room rocked!

I love it here, great people and a great passion for life! Bring it on Tenerife!

Mandi was totally in awe at the incredible charity work that these volunteers achieve, she cannot wait to become involved with such a prestigious organisation and looks forward to achieving with the club.

Following an excursion to La Gomera on Saturday, care of Mun2Travel in Playa de las Americas. Mandi is off again on Monday to Costa del Silencio, to see the Lions Charity Shop for herself as an introduction to the area and to look at the possibilities of volunteering.

Gesture, speech, song, music and dance

Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of fine art that uses live performers to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place. The performers may communicate this experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music, and dance. Elements of art and stagecraft are used to enhance the physicality, presence and immediacy of the experience.

Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical – humor, pathos, love, anger – are communicated through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole. Although musical theatre overlaps with other theatrical forms like opera and dance, it may be distinguished by the equal importance given to the music as compared with the dialogue, movement and other elements. Since the early 20th century, musical theatre stage works have generally been called, simply, musicals.

Singing is the act of producing musical sounds with the voice, and augments regular speech by the use of both tonality and rhythm. One who sings is called a singer or vocalist. Singers perform music (arias, recitatives, songs, etc.) that can be sung either with or without accompaniment by musical instruments. Singing is often done in a group of other musicians, such as in a choir of singers with different voice ranges, or in an ensemble with instrumentalists, such as a rock group or baroque ensemble or as a soloist.

Drama is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance. The term comes from a Greek word meaning action, which is derived from the verb meaning to do or to act. The enactment of drama in theatre, performed by actors on a stage before an audience, presupposes collaborative modes of production and a collective form of reception. The structure of dramatic texts, unlike other forms of literature, is directly influenced by this collaborative production and collective reception.

A performance, in the performing arts, generally comprises an event in which a performer or group of performers present one or more works of art to an audience. Usually the performers participate in rehearsals beforehand. Afterwards audience members often applaud. After a performance, performance measurement sometimes occurs. Performance measurement is the process of collecting, analyzing and/or reporting information regarding the performance of an individual, group, organization, system or component.

Dance is the art of movement of the body, usually rhythmically and to music, using prescribed or improvised steps and gestures. "A dance" is any one prescribed sequence of such movements, or the music to which it is performed, or an event at which it takes place. Dance may also be regarded as a form of nonverbal communication recognisable in other animals; in bee dances and behaviour patterns such as mating dances.

Dance can be categorized and described in various ways. It may be analysed purely by its choreography, its repertoire of movements, or it may be classified according to its time or place of origin. Yet study reveals many generic similarities in many different times and places.

One Project... Summer School

The art of storytelling through Acting, Dance and Song.
1 Hour of Singing 1 Hour of Dance 1 Hour Acting

What is Musical Connections?
The company that is bringing the essence of musical theatre to the beautiful island that is Tenerife.
3 Hours Part Time Performing Arts Training for Young People:
Age Groups: 6-9 years, 10-13 years, 14-18 years.

Children experience the complete musical theatre experience on a weekly basis, be it for fun or to start the journey as a professional performer. The basis of Musical Connections, Tenerife is that children are divided into three age ranges and rotate on an hourly basis participating in the many skills that makes performance accessible to all. Acting involves creating a character, an imaginary storyline that can be realistic or absurd, this is the world of make believe, using the skills of Mime, Role play, Dance and Song using each child’s Imagination to create original performance.

Dance or Physical Theatre, tells a story without words and can communicate physically through various styles of movement. From hip hop to jazz, dance should be fun, energetic and accompanied by a soundtrack, from classical to pop, it portrays a message to its audience.

Singing, again tells a story through the use of the voice and techniques using musical terminology, from timing to tuning, and musical theatre combines all of the three disciples.

Think West Side Story, Grease, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, Oliver, A Christmas Carol, Wicked, they are all soundtracks telling someone’s story.

We will work with professional artists to create musical theatre for all to enjoy which will be performed at the end of term three.

Term one
Students start to develop confidence through experiencing some of the techniques required to become a musical theatre performer in a safe, creative fun environment.

Term two
Students start to devise and create a piece of musical theatre using the skills of acting, dancing, singing.

Term three
This where the plot is developed giving each child the opportunity to shine. There is a saying is professional theatre, that there is no such thing as a small part, and every youngster will be given the same opportunity on stage.

THE COMPLETE PACKAGE OF THE ART OF ACTING, DANCING, AND SINGING FOR THE NEW GENERATION OF THE PERFORMERS OF TODAY AND TOMORROW...!!!
